Kyabram & District Health Services Health and Wellbeing Centre is a hospital for the community and is a reflection of the community both physical and socially. It should embody all things great about Kyabram and the existing facilities.

In fulfilling the brief we aim at creating an altruistic environment that will promote wellbeing.

We would like to challenge the idea of a traditional health institution and develop the concept of a ‘healthy town’. Programmatic nodes are proposed to improve service integration and represent a series of ‘small buildings’ that are individually identifiable and flexible in facilitating a variety of functions. The spaces that are residual to these are just as significant. They present the opportunity for informal exchanges, the development of relationships and a place for the community. They also allow for the development of strategic patient and procedural flows.
The project promotes a strong civic identity, with a single consolidating gesture to direct visitors on the site, it will become part of the collective landscape of Kyabram.

ANTARCTICA worked in close collaboration with a project control group and with Kyabram & District Health Services user groups to continue refining the design of the centre.
