Simon Whibley has combined extensive practice experience with ongoing involvement in architectural research and design teaching.

His design interests lie at the intersection of architectural and urban design, a focus on the implications of the architectural project for the city. This interest is also in the parts of the city where architecture can make its most significant contribution: the places between and beyond designated centres. In Antarctica, he undertakes projects within the public realm of Melbourne’s suburbs and regional Victoria.

In addition to designing a number of private residences Simon co-convened the 2006 Urban Architecture Laboratory (UAL) International Housing Conference, Rehousing, and co-edited the book that followed.

Simon is also affiliated with the Victorian Eco-Innovation Laboratory (VEIL); a design research project to develop resilient and sustainable futures for Australian cities, with an emphasis on distributed systems.
